In an interview with Motor Trend, Jim Morrison, head of Jeep Brand North America, said that the All-New Cherokee – reportedly codenamed KM – would be “bigger and better than ever”, but provided little further information.

According to a new MoparInsiders report, Jeep will launch a small Wagoneer model based on the next-generation Cherokee. The publication’s “sources” say that Jeep will build the new Wagoneer on the new STLA Large platform.
The platform is set to support a variety of vehicles from the Stellantis brand, and is designed to accommodate a battery-electric powertrain. The smaller Wagoneer is expected to join the Jeep lineup in 2024 or 2025.
While the sales of the Jeep Cherokee are better, the next generation of models is coming. Jeep’s global president, Christian Meunier, told Motor Trend that the new Cherokee will be bigger and better than the current model.

The marque’s global president, Christian Meunier, said it would “have a lot of electrification”, possibly referring to a plug-in hybrid or all-electric powertrain.
An earlier report by Automotive News stated that the next-generation version won’t arrive until the middle of the decade, with the current model set to exceed 10 years of service before replacement.
It will likely be supported by the STLA Large architecture, with the new platform expected to evolve from parent company Stellantis’ Giorgio architecture.
This platform is currently found on the Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio and the Jeep WL Grand Cherokee, offering support for rear-wheel or all-wheel drive applications.
The updated STLA Large platform is expected to support internal combustion and an electric powertrain with front, rear, or all-wheel drive.
Further in the interview, enthusiastic website MoparInsiders stated that the KM Cherokee could get a luxury Wagoneer badge variant.
The flagship, AWD-only trim will reportedly be limited to Wagoneer brand-certified dealers in the United States, who are allowed to sell large Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer four-wheelers.
The larger KM Cherokee will likely fill the gap between the current KL model and the standard WL Grand Cherokee with a larger standard wheelbase, potentially offering three rows of seating.
Jeep Australia has no comment to offer the next-generation KM Cherokee at this stage.
